Soma Ayurvedic: Digital and Social Media Marketing Campaign

Soma ayurvedic is a startup skincare company, and I was hired as a digital marketing and graphic designer for social media and the website.

The goal was to portray clean beauty through an ancient aura because ayurvedic practices were a bit old and dated, yet still effective.

First, I analyzed the existing traffic flow to the website and social media and appropriately suggested recommendations about current trends and influencers.

Our target market was mainly 25-45 years old, middle-to-upper class women.

I developed initiatives to effectively communicate design material to this market, including 40+ graphics and videos created via Adobe software. We were going for a “grunge,” retro ambiance on our social media, aiming for millennials who are 1981-1996 born to have a feeling of reminiscence and nostalgia for their youth. For example, I utilized a grainy filter in almost every graphic to simulate a film camera effect. Further, the computer graphic is similar to the first computer released by Apple in the 1980s. The hands graphic is a message to consumers to “get their hands on the most wanted product” now. The rainbow graphic simulates a disco effect.

 

Photography campaign

The goals of the photography campaign were to portray:

  1. Minimalism

  2. Cleanliness

  3. Ingredients in each product

Lacking a professional backdrop, I had to be flexible and utilize household objects to display professional-looking photographs for social media campaigns, press releases, and the website.

Campaign Results

  • I governed social media accounts on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn, gaining over 4,000 followers on Instagram in 2 months

  • I curated emails to deliver marketing promotions via mailing list collections, increasing clicks/views to the website by 15% in 1 month.
